In our everyday life we ​​come across situations in which aesthetic components such as shapes, colors, light and, above all, movements often come together casually and by chance and evoke associations with a choreography. In particular, things or natural phenomena appear to us again and again as dancing and lively actors. To capture these moments, we spontaneously grab our cell phone camera, record the scene and share it on the internet.

LIFE BEHIND THINGS is a long-term project by Christine Grosche and Marie Werthschulte. We have been collecting video material since 2014, which we now continuously share on our blog. This creates an online archive that questions the originality and transience of the recorded moments: In what way does the liveliness of the experienced situation change when it is recorded, visually composed and released into the digital world?

In LIFE BEHIND THINGS #duet we stage the material again by letting the moving images enter into a dialogue. How does the language of movements change when we view and compose them from a choreographic perspective? What new form of liveliness / life can emerge when video images become the dancing actors of a duet?

LIFE BEHIND THINGS #light is a composition of images taking place on a „wider stage“, leaving the square format, that has been framing the former LBT videos.
